Weekly Eye On Missions: January 13, 2010
Gale Dawson, GPBC Missionary to the Congo
Dear Friends,
Praise the Lord, we made it to Holland, New York (just south of Buffalo) before 18 inches of snow fell. We arrived at noon on Monday, Nov. 30th and were met by eight members of HCBBC, and unloaded the 26 foot Penske truck in three hours flat. By Friday, the house was 95% set up and the Christmas tree was decorated.
Pastor O'Dell preached a message on "Welcome Home." Unbeknownst to my family, the members of HCBBC gave us a "Pound the Preacher" welcome. Grocery bags, and boxes, (of all types of food), filled our trunk and then some. A cord of wood was brought to our house on Saturday. What a welcome! On top of this, a brother in the church gave my wife and I a blessing for our wedding anniversary on December 14th, plus a large gift on the "Pounding" night!
While presenting the NETS Ministries: "Collection for the Saints," in one of our supporting churches, a dear lady was moved to give $250 towards our preventative medicines for the pastors and missionary. We wired the money via Western Union, the medicines were purchased, and then equally distributed to the pastors and missionary. The type of medicines purchased are to help keep the preachers healthy and in the pulpit ministering to their people: Antibiotics, Anti-malarial Meds, Worm-cure (pin worms, tape worms, hook worms, etc), Blood-builder for sickle-cell anemia, Ameba cure, Vitamins and nutrients, and Pain relievers.
Thank you for faithfully giving and praying!
