Weekly Eye On Missions: January 6, 2010

Bill Daab, GPBC Missionary to the Middle East

Dear Friends,

One year has passed since we first arrived in Jordan. In that year we have encountered a new culture, new language, new society, new lifestyle, new church, new friends, and the same enemy. As I look back on the past twelve months I am amazed at all that is involved in this transitional phase of ministry. I always thought I had a healthy appreciation for the challenges facing people who set out to serve in a foreign nation. Of course, we know that there is no teacher like experience, and we have learned a great deal.

One family prayer request we have is regarding the purchase of a vehicle. Thanks to the residence visa we finally obtained about a month ago, we are now able to own a car. Like most cities the size of Amman, a car is the only way to get across the city. For the last year we have been forced to take taxis or walk everywhere we go. A used car would be a great help for us as a family. I have been told that I do not let people know enough when we have needs. So, I am letting you know.

One ministry prayer request is for our Iraqi youth (ages 16-25) service that has just begun. We had a core group of 8 young people come to the planning meeting and they are excited to serve one another and the Lord. I hope to help with the teaching and music, as needed. One of the young men is interested in studying at our Bible Institute! Last month we held four days of meetings entitled "God is Faithful." We were encouraged through the messages from local pastors, as well as our invited speaker from the states. At the end of our lives, our voices will raise to sing songs, not of our faithfulness, but of His.

Declaring His Faithfulness,
Bill Daab
