Steve Myers: January 2008

Dear Co-laborers,

Summer is here in South Africa, rain and more rain and heat and more heat but the ministry goes on.

We had 1 profession of faith and 2 baptisms in December. One mother was so happy her daughter was Getting baptized that she sponsored a meal for the English and Zulu services. We had over a 120 in attendance. We had 83 professions of faith and 23 baptized for the year 2007. Praise the Lord for another great year.

My interpreter got engaged. Pray that her fiancé gets a transfer or a new job in Pietermaritzburg. They are both good Christians and recently translated are new convert lessons into Zulu.

Wesley Moodly has come forward to take the youth, pray for his training that all will go well. He has come up through the ranks and I am excited for him. Please pray for him for wisdom and strength.

We just finished our holidays and the girls started school today. Bethany is in grade 11 and Ruth is in grade 9. Our country does not have enough capacity on our electricity grid so we are experiencing black outs all over. That means no traffic lights at time, which can be harrowing prospect. They admit that they had failed to plan and only will be straightened around the year 2015.

We had a visitor on Sunday, God had been dealing with her about bringing her family up in church. So she came to church on the Sunday I started a study on 1 Samuel. The first chapter I preached on was just the message she needed to confirm her need to come to our church. God is so good all the time!

Pam had surgery today to have a cist removed and the rest of her ovary. Please pray for her recovery, it will take about 6 weeks to heal.

I was listening to talk radio the other day and heard that our young people have 50% chance of catching AIDS the first time they have sex. It reinforces Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death,." Our young people need Christ and a life change if they want a future.

Furlough is around the corner; if you would like me to come by your church please let me know by contacting me at smmyers@wandata.com or at my address at the top of the page.

We appreciate your prayers and support and the Christmas gifts!
