Russell and Melissa Aaron: May 2006

Dear Friends & Family,

Zuni Souls Saved!

The LORD has opened a huge door for us here in Zuni. He has allowed us to have a regular service in the Zuni Jail. On the first Saturday service, we had around 18 attend. I could sense that the LORD was working. We had almost 100% attend and each had a hunger for the Word of God. It was all new to them, they had heard of Jesus but that was about it. We had to start with the very basics! I was able to preach for about thirty minutes and I gave them a very clear presentation of the Gospel.

On the following Friday we were able to see our first Zuni's saved. The Zuni Jail set up a counseling session at 7:00 in the evening. Nine people signed up for individual counseling. We did not get out of jail until almost 11:00pm. I was able to counsel with four inmates. It was wonderful to see that they had been reading the New Testaments that we had given them the previous Saturday. Two asked for the Old Testament also. Some of them were already asking questions about the Bible. It is amazing to see how God can provide an environment where you can deal with people one on one and without interruptions! The first man that I was able to witness to had a background in the Christian Reform Church. He knew some about the Bible but had never been saved. After explaining to him the Gospel, he prayed and asked the LORD to come into his heart. Afterwards he asked if I ever did any door to door preaching. I said yes! He asked if I could come to his house and preach about Jesus to his wife and family. He also said that when we got our church started that he wanted to come and pick up trash and pull the weeds. He said that he just wanted to be a servant. What a blessing!! Bro. Jason was able to lead two others to the Saviour also. The ones that we were able to lead to Jesus were also asking if we could keep teaching them the Bible. It is awesome to see what God can do in a person's life.

Ministering Through Basketball

The LORD has allowed Jason Herndon and me to use our tall frames for Him. We have been able to make many friendships by playing in basketball leagues and tournaments. It was through Derrick a member of our Zuni ball team, that we were able to start service in the Jail. I am glad that I can use my talents for the LORD.

Pray for Land or Building for a Church

We are still in the process of getting a building to meet in for services. We were able to turn in our proposal to the Tribal Council. They should go over it and then contact us for a meeting. Please pray that the LORD would work in their hearts and that they would approve a lease on a building or land for services.

Thank you once again for your support as we win souls on your account.

Because of Him,
