Roger and Karen Bowman: January & February 2010
The completion of our ministry property in Arteaga is now awaiting a roof and a few finishing touches. This property is paid for (we have the deed), and will be legalized as soon as the building is completed. Mexican law says that church property must be registered; and as such, neither the government nor anyone else will be able to seize the building and use it for any other purpose.
The cost to finish the work is about $5,000 US and we have $600 toward the project. That leaves us needing $4,400. Anyone interested in partnering with us in this opportunity, please mark your donation to the building project. Most of the monies needed are for material and not labor. We have a group from our home church coming down in July to finish the building so we can begin using it.
Our folks at San Jose have stood up to those who wanted to make our church building open to anyone who wanted to use it. As soon as we can get the papers there we will begin registering that property too. There have been several instances lately where church buildings have been taken away from folks because the laws were not followed. The laws are Mexican so we have no recourse other than to do things their way.
We want to thank everyone for the medicines, clothes, jackets, and blankets that were sent during this winter season. The temperatures here in Arteaga were as low as 14 degrees. It was much colder in San Jose as the elevation there is a little over 7,000 ft. Our folks really needed and appreciated them.
Please continue to pray for us and for our health. We couldn't do what we are doing without you.
Roger and Karen
