Kevin and Stacy Byers: June 2007

Dear Pastors and prayer partners

Greetings from New Jersey and thank you for your faithful support each month as well as your continual prayer.

School is out so the family travels with me a lot these days. Caleb doesn't like long car rides now and he screams for hours while traveling down the road. Out of four children, Caleb is the first with an aversion to long car rides. I guess he deems his car seat unnecessary since he started walking. I dealt with the situation on our way to Chattanooga by using ear protection to sleep a few hours while Stacy drove.

A few weeks ago we visited Leonardo Baptist Church in New Jersey. Evidently Bella made some good friends while playing with the children at church. We headed home after the evening service and Bella asked when we would go back to the church. I said "I don't know if we will be back honey." Bella began crying and with tears running down her cheek said; "but I won't (sniff) see my friends (sniff) anymore." She has a real knack for making close friends in a hurry.

This month our family attended the second week of candidate school at BIMI. While we were there, Gabriel borrowed a bicycle from one of the other children and rode into a tree. He managed to push his tooth all the way through his upper lip. Stacy and I spent graduation night in the hospital gluing Gabriel's lip back together. Thank God they were able to use glue in place of stitches. You've got to love modern medicine!

I was approached by a teen age girl recently who talked with Stacy and me about our peculiar Christian standards. She wanted to know what the Bible teaches about dress standards and other things. I began my answer with a question about her salvation. Admittedly she has never trusted Christ as her savior. I told her that dressing modestly every day would be a total waste if she woke up in Hell one day. Please pray for this young girl because she would not accept Christ. She is a very kind and friendly girl and very honest about her condition. God is clearly working in her life.

Pastor Doster at Lighthouse Baptist Church hosted an overnight stay on the USS New Jersey for Fathers Day. Boys 7 years and up were invited to attend and had to be accompanied by their father or a sponsor. The USS New Jersey is the most decorated battleship in the Navy and remains docked at the waterfront in Camden. Josiah and I shared a special time as we experienced life aboard a Battleship.

Thank you all for your continual prayer, the Lord is blessing and our support is now at 60%. Please remember our goal of January as you pray!
