Greg and Wendy Mann: February 2007
Dear Family and Friends,
It has been a little time since I have been able to get a letter out. My family and I left Guyana for the States on January 5th. Once I got Wendy and the boys settled in the Orlando area near a supporting church, I returned to Guyana for some "finishing touches." Upon my return to the States I was priviledged to be the missionary speaker for Trinity Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fl, January 31-February 4th. Our days were filled with activity...I spoke each day in the elementary chapel, then the acadamy/college chapel, and each evening service during the week. In addition to these activities Wendy and I were invited to share some of our experience with various college and academy classes. My family and I were simply overwelmed with the generosity and encouragement we received from this great church, and Pastor Messer.
My wife and I are both graduates of Trinity Baptist College, (Wendy 94, and myself in 1995). We are still very excited about this great church and college. If my children were of college age now, TBC would still be the first choice for my children. I believe there are 3 things that make Trinity an excellent choice.
1) You will find a passion for the glory of God and for global evangelization.
2) You will find a rock solid faith in and proclamation of our preserved English Bible.
3) You will find Christ exalting, and spiritually edifying music in every service.
As we left Trinity we were on our way to Graniteville, SC and Breezy Hill Baptist Church. Pastor Riley and the church went out of their way to welcome us and make this a special week. There is no doubt that missions is not just a once a year subject for the conference in this church. The Pastor and staff have obviously saturated this local body with a keen interest in the subject of world evangelization. I am always excited to be in churches where the people are already excited about missions when we get there! Breezy Hill was more than generous to my family and I, and we are happy to say that they are our newest supporters for the work in Guyana....picking us up for $125/month support!
We are now in Greenville, SC and will be with Victory Chapel Baptist Church for the next few days. This church has visited us in Guyana THREE times, and we are honored to come by just to say a big THANK YOU! There is not a church anywhere more knowledgable about our work in Guyana than Victory Chapel, and we are already trying to work out another visit for the church! Thank God for churches who do more than just talk about missions...these dear people DO missions!
Over these next couple of months in the States we are wanting to raise some special project funds. You will be hearing more about these things over the next few months. I am not shy about presenting these needs, as we are making plans to just keep growing!
1) We need current supporting churches and individuals to consider raising their monthly support. Our ministry needs a minimum of $1000 more per month to grow as we believe the Lord would have us to.
2) We need to raise a minimum of $5000 towards the purchase of books for our national pastors and their wives. We now have 10 men in our program! (Imagine trying to be a pastor with no study books!)
3) We need to raise about $3000 US for HF radio sets to "connect" our remote churches. Keep in mind we do not have cell phones, land line phones, or even smoke signals! Our churches are spread out over 110 miles.
4) We need to raise about $2500 to ship various items to Guyana in April.
5) We need $3000 to purchase a boat and engine for Yarakita ($15,000 was just given to build a church in Yarakita!!!)
6) We need a minimum of $50,000 toward the building of a Bible college/dorm/church facility.
It would be a real encouragement to hear from some supporters concerning these needs. I will thank you in advance for being sensitive to the Lord in taking part in these projects.
Glad to be serving!
Greg, Wendy, Joshua, Josiah, and John Mann
