David and Jenny Harris: December 2006
Merry Christmas
We trust that you had a great Christmas and will have a wonderful New Year. Thank you so very much for your prayers this past year. We would like to thank you also for the gracious gifts and thoughtful correspondence throughout the year. It means much to us to know that you are praying for us.
Christmas Blessings
We had several special services for Christmas this year including our monthly ladies' meeting, children's Christmas program and our church's Christmas service.
For our ladies meeting which was the first Thursday of December, we had a house full of ladies who enjoyed a special lesson that Jenny taught as well as a "pot luck" lunch. Despite the two feet of snow we had that first week, it did not hinder anyone from coming.
Our children's Christmas program is a great time of year to present the Gospel. We had about 50 who attended. The majority of these are people who are not in our church. Our school students opened the program with caroling in English followed by the Joy Club children and their play called "The Greatest Gift". After the play, I had the privilege of preaching a message on "The Gift of God". There were several who raised their hands making a profession of faith.
On the 17th we held a Christmas service for our church. The meeting area of the house that we rent for our church was packed with 34 people including several who are lost and need the Lord. All of these were people we have been working on for years. Please pray for the salvation of Mr. Yamamoto, Mr. Yasui and Mrs. Kimura.
Family News
For our family, Christmas was a special one as we were able to spend it with our families in the States. We brought Juliana back to the states to finish her senior year of high school. This will help her get adjusted to life in the U.S. before she begins Bible college in the fall. In order to get her back before school starts in January, we had to leave Japan prior to Christmas as the cost of tickets skyrocketed after December 22nd.
Our family will be in the Atlanta area until June. We will be staying in a house across the street from our church. The address there is:

Since we do not have help in our church, I will be making several trips back during the next few months to insure that the work is going forward. We are thankful that our church family has agreed to take on the responsibilities of ministry. They will be a great help. Please pray for our church as we continue to work to see people saved in Aomori and the surrounding areas. We will also be available for meetings until about the end of May.
Jannah had another great semester at West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster, CA. She is working hard and doing a great job. She will be headed back on the 13th of January for the remainder of her second year. Juliana will be joining her in the fall. They are looking forward to being in school together. It will not be long before it will just be Jessica and Josiah at home.
I would appreciate your prayers for my (David's) mother who is not doing well. She has several health issues and has had a very hard time recently. We would all appreciate your prayers.
Ministry Needs
The city of Aomori continues to grow. There is a great need for more churches. We are praying that the Lord will open doors for us to start a church on the west side of town in the near future. We are also in need of a Japanese family to help in the work
Our goal of distributing almost 500,000 tracts will continue while we are in the states. Pray for the 41,000 tracts that are going out each month.
Bro. and Mrs. Uehara (oo-e-ha-da), who helped us for almost two years are adjusting to life in Osaka again. We sure miss them and praise the Lord for all that they were able to help us accomplish.
The Zemke family is on a medical furlough so continue to pray for them and their family.
Thank you for praying for us!
