Dan and Elizabeth Canavan: January and February 2006

Teen Salvation Decisions Each Friday, we have a Bible club in our living room. There are about a half dozen kids between ages 6-12, mostly girls. There are two teen boys that also come, three of late. Beth and the triplets work with the younger kids, while I work with the teen boys: Daryl, Ricky and Finn. Daryl (now 18) and Ricky (now 16) have come out to the Bible club regularly over the last 3 years, while Finn has come on and off. About 5 months ago, Finn started coming to the Bible club regularly.

About 8 months ago, Daryl asked the Lord to save him. Over the past several months, Ricky seemed burdened about his salvation. Ricky said he was saved, but showed no evidence of it. A few weeks ago, he admitted that he was not saved and trusted Christ as his Saviour.

During December and January, it seemed the Lord was really working in Finns heart also. Finn would readily admit that he would end up in hell if he was not saved, and clearly knew the plan of salvation. After about a month of serious deliberation, he came to Bible club on Friday and I asked him if he did "it". Finn replied with a broad smile that he did - he trusted in Christ alone for the forgiveness of his sin.

Just as the Lord really seems to be working in the group, Daryl's parents have put their house up for sale and will be moving about 1 1/2 hours drive south of the church. Please pray about this situation. Daryl is the leader in the group, and the Lord has used him to bring out the others. God is doing something special here; we thank you so much for the prayers and support that make it possible. Please pray for the growth and baptism of Daryl, Finn and Ricky - the environment they are in is very dark. Also, please pray for Beth, the triplets and I for strength and for me to wisely handle the situation that we might have fruit that remains.

Valentines Banquet We praise the Lord that there are married couples in the church now. A year ago, there were only two couples in the church. Attending the Valentines Banquet, there were four couples besides Beth and myself. Beth cooked turkey and stuffing for everyone and each couple brought a dish to make it a meal. After eating, we had a skit and a short message on building a godly marriage. Each couple expressed gratitude for a fun and uplifting evening.

Tract distribution Our church has completed passing out 20,000 tracts to the homes in the area within a 3 mile radius of the church. Besides our family, we have between 2 - 4 adults come out each Saturday morning. Through the winter, I have been teaching a soulwinning class. After each class we went through the subdivisions placing tracts in doors and talking to those that were open. With spring just around the corner and the soul winning class finishing up, we are ready to start knocking on some doors as we go through the subdivisions again.

Michael's salvation One of the men of our church, Brendan, met Michael while passing out tracts. In the conversation that ensued, they arranged to do a Bible study on a Thursday evening. This went well and became a biweekly event. Michael was reading the New Testament on his own in between Bible studies. Through these Bible studies and his own reading, Michael saw his need of the gospel and accepted Christ as his Saviour. Please pray that he will come out to church and that he will be baptized. Please also pray for the salvation of his wife and children.

In Christ,
Daniel P. Canavan
