Clayton and Robyn McCurdy: September and October 2007
Dear Pastor, Praying Friends, and Family,
What a great privilege it is that we have to serve the God of heaven. After his encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ, Saul said, "Lord, what wilt thou have me to do?" It really does not matter what we are doing or where we are doing it so long as we are serving our Lord and we are obedient to what He has written in the Scriptures.
Much has happened since we last wrote to you. At the end of August we had a baseball camp. Bro. Wade Rowden, a former major league baseball player and also an Independent Baptist preacher, came and taught the kids how to play baseball and then preached the Gospel. For two days we walked all over town and passed out flyers inviting kids to come. Over eighty young people showed up and thirty trusted Christ as their Savior. Yelisa invited two neighbor kids to come with her. They both came and trusted Christ as Savior, and now they are coming to Sunday school. Danu (9 years old) told Yelisa that he loved Sunday school so much that he can't wait to come back next week. It's a blessing to see our daughter Yelisa reaching her friends with the Gospel. Around fifteen of the kids who came to baseball camp are now coming faithfully to Sunday school. Pray that God would continue to help these kids grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Last week we had a wonderful "Harvest Service," which is very similar to our Thanksgiving celebration in America. It's a time when the church folks bring food for a feast and then we thank God for the harvest that He gave this year. We had fifty people in church with some first-time visitors. I had an opportunity after the service to sit down and share the Gospel with a young man named Vanya who was invited to church by his aunt and uncle. He had never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel and was very attentive, but he told me that he wasn't ready to receive Christ. He did take a Gospel tract and he promised me that he would read it over and think about it. Pray for Vanya that he would be saved.
Pray for the ministry of the Bible Institute. We are starting classes this week. Pray that God would bless the classes and that God would continue to call Moldovan men to preach the Gospel and plant churches around Moldova. My wife, Robyn, will be teaching a class for ladies, so please pray that God would raise up some Godly women to be Godly wives and mothers.
We would also ask that you pray about our living permits. It is time to renew our one year living permit and the authorities are threatening not to renew them. We understand clearly that "the king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water..." and He will turn their hearts exactly where He wants them. We believe God wants us to continue to be here. Pray that God would give us favor in the eyes of the government and that we will be able to renew our living permits.
Thank you for your prayers and faithful support!
Sincerely,
Clayton, Robyn, Yelisa, Emily & Kayla McCurdy
