Anthony and Gloria DaCunha: October 2005

Dear Pastor and Praying Friends,

Ups and downs in the Ministry:

Our latest youth (game) night went very well. We had two visitors, Steven and Daniel who are brothers. Daniel is a first time visitor and was very excited about the game night. Neither young man knows Christ as his Savior, but they have heard the Gospel. We pray that continued contact and activities will bring them to a saving knowledge of Christ.

Some of you asked about the advertisement that we have kept in the area paper. It is provoking both calls and comments. Most people that I have spoken with in town have seen the ad and know it is us. We also have one or two calls a month inquiring as to service time and location.

The ministry here has been afTected by the collapsing local economy. More than a dozen factories in our immediate area have closed in the last three months. Bernie now is in Aveiro going to nursing school. Steven and Daniel's father has gone to England for work. Miguel, his wife, and three sons have returned to Germany this summer. Joao and Anabela are planning a move for the same reason... and the list goes on. Many immigrants are leaving the area or returning to their home countries. Even Luisa, our most faithful in attendance, was laid off. She has started her own business but for the last few weeks she has not come at all.

Please pray as we continue to preach and teach God's Word. Through all the challenges that comes our way, your prayers are a key source of encouragement to us.

In Christ,

Anthony
