Bus Ministry
From its start with the use of a member's Ford Pinto in the early days of our church history, the bus ministry at GPBC has grown to bringing over 150 children and adults to church each Sunday morning on three buses and two vans. Covering an area of about 100 blocks around the church, GPBC truly is "making a difference in Portland... (Jude 22)" through the bus ministry.

Children's Ministries
Sunday school classes for all ages are taught by dedicated teachers who work to bring the truths of God's Word alive in the hearts and minds of children every week.
Following Sunday school, the children (from 1st grade through 5th grade) meet with our children's pastor, Assistant Pastor Tom Hall for "Super Church." The children sing songs about Jesus, and are challenged from the preaching of God's Word that they need to give their heart to Christ, and then to live for Him each day.
Younger children (2 years old through Kindergarten) stay in the same classroom for the Children's Church hour that they met in for Sunday School. In the second session, they receive additional Bible-based teaching about God's love. These younger children remain in their classroom with their teachers until they are picked up by the parent at the close of the morning service.
The Kids of Praise children's choir practice after Super Church, and are dismissed when the adults are dismissed from the morning service in the auditorium. Directed by Steve and Linda Paiko, the Kids of Praise sing in the 6pm Sunday service about once each month, and are regular participants in the annual Easter and Christmas programs.
Our children are welcomed into the evening service to worship together with the entire family on Sunday nights. We do provide classroom teaching for all children 4 years and under in the 6pm service on Sundays.
Wednesday night means Joy Club, Joy Bells and God's Little Lambs. From 2 years old through 5th grade, GPBC challenges children to learn God's Word and apply it to their life. Badges, ribbons and awards are earned for learning Bible verses, for helping with chores around the house, demonstrating skills in outdoor activities, and much more. Young people can earn the right to participate in activities such as snow tubing and other exciting activities through their work in Joy Club. Your children will love coming on Wednesday nights as Pastor Tom Hall directs their activities and teaching in this exciting ministry.
Check the church calendar throughout the year for other activities in the children's ministry, including Summer Camp, Vacation Bible school, pine car derby and more!
Ladies' Ministry
Recognizing that ladies have a need for encouragement, fellowship and teaching, the Ladies Fellowship meets several times each year for special events. Whether it is an evening of crafts at the church, going out to breakfast with a missionary, or attending weekend retreats and beach trips, our ladies find strength in spending time together in fellowship around God's Word.
Our church calendar is the place to view more information about up-coming events in the Ladies' Fellowship.
Lighthouse Youth
Under the direction of Assistant Pastor Greg Adams, the Lighthouse Youth Ministry is a great place for middle school and high school young people to learn about living for Christ in an environment that is fun and directed to their age-group.
Sunday School classes are taught by committed and dedicated teachers who love the Lord and are excited about God's Word.
Teens meet every week for Wednesday Nite Live, which is the highlight of the week for our young people.
The GPBC young people are active in serving Christ in many ministries of our church. From Senior Saints Visitation, to soul winning visitation, to the bus ministry, to assisting in classes and participating in the music ministry; the teens learn that they are not here to be entertained, but to be equipped to be servants of Jesus Christ.
The Northwest Youth Conference is the place for teens to be every November. This year, around 1,000 young people will gather for a three-day conference of preaching and activities. Check out the link above for more information on this great conference.
Be sure to check out the church calendar throughout the year for information about other activities; including Missions Trips, Summer Camp, West Coast Youth Conference in California, Bible College Survey Trips, and many, many activities.
Men's Fellowship
Under the direction of Mr. Al Sanders, our men's fellowship is an active part of the ministry at GPBC. Opportunities for fellowship and service are regularly scheduled, and every man can find a place for friendship, service and spiritual challenge through the Men's Fellowship.
You will want to view the church calendar regularly throughout the year for information about activities sponsored by the Men's Fellowship. Activities include the Father/Son Campout, Dads and Daughters Cruise, Men's Golf Tournament, monthly Prayer Breakfast and periodic Men's Workdays.
Ministry to the Deaf
The deaf ministry of GPBC was born in 1989, following a soulwinning experience by Pastor Adams. While knocking on doors, he met a deaf couple, who asked if anyone could interpret for them so they could visit GPBC. Within just a few weeks, the deaf ministry was born.
Assistant Pastor Bob Boyd, who was saved through the deaf ministry of our church, now directs the deaf ministry. Deaf individuals and families from all around the Portland metro area meet each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening for fellowship, teaching, and preaching. During the Sunday Evening service, our deaf join with the rest of the church family to worship together in the main auditorium, where the services are interpreted for the deaf.
You can learn more information about the GPBC deaf ministry by visiting any service of our church, or by contacting Assistant Pastor Bob Boyd.
Nursery Ministries
Knowing that children are a precious gift from God, the GPBC nursery is committed to take the utmost care to earn the confidence of every parent who entrusts a child to the GPBC nursery during any service of our church.
We provide a Christ-honoring, safe, fun and loving atmosphere where parents can feel comfortable in leaving their children, so the parents can hear the Word of God preached without interruption.
Loving, dedicated and trained ladies who take joy in serving Jesus Christ through this ministry staff our nurseries. Our nursery rooms are bright, clean and welcoming; and are graded by the age and mobility of the infants and children.
Mrs. Susan Hall and her workers welcome your children from birth through 2 years old to the nurseries of GPBC for every service.
